
Carer Coaching: Review Support Volunteer | Home based
As a Carer Coaching assistant with Carers Support West Sussex, you will assist and support with delivering our Coaching group sessions (online or in-person). Using Coaching as a tool, these sessions are designed to help carers reflect on their well-being and take positive steps toward change
The Difference You Will Make
This position will support carers in sustaining the positive transformations that coaching may have facilitated, while also ensuring their opinions are heard and appreciated. These reviews serve as a vital resource for the design and development of future services, supplying essential data for the project update reports to the Big Lottery Community Fund. This ensures ongoing support for Carer Coaching programs.
Role Expectations
As a Review Support volunteer with Carers Support West Sussex, you’ll assist the Carer Coaching Team by reaching out to carers who have finished their six one-on-one coaching sessions with us. Collaborating with the Carer Coach Coordinator, you’ll get in touch with these carers 3 to 6 months after their coaching to collect their feedback and insights.
Skills and Personal Qualities Required:
- Empathy, patience, and confidentiality
- Effective communication, interpersonal and organisational skills
- Team-oriented and reliable
- Satisfactory level of IT skills and competencies
- Knowledge of coaching principles (desirable)
Equipment needed?:
The role is partly home based and you will need:
- Access to a computer or laptop to attend meetings and training
- Wifi access within your home
- Volunteero App
Responsibilities:
- Reaching Out to Carers: Utilise a standardized script when contacting Carers through phone or email, ensuring that it’s done within the established timeframes.
- Record Keeping: Document all direct interactions with Carers and any feedback in our database. Safeguarding Alerts: Inform the team of any potential safeguarding issues that may arise.
- Support Requests: Notify the team of any Carer who has asked for additional assistance related to their caregiving responsibilities.
- Encouragement: Inspire Carers to maintain their momentum and foster ongoing positive changes.
- Team Collaboration: Participate in meetings to exchange insights, discuss challenges, and celebrate our achievements together.
Training and Support
Mandatory training includes:
- Volunteer Induction
- Online Basic Adult Safeguarding
- Assistant specific training/ Shadowing period/Carer group facilitation
- Online GDPR
- Online Basic Health & Safety
Potential access to further training, depending on availability.
Locations,Timings and Commitment
Timings and Commitment:
- Location: Online via Zoom or in person. (venues used across the county)
- Commitment: 5 consecutive weeks (2.5 hourly) sessions per Group Coaching Programme with a minimum 12-month commitment. There will be a two-week period in between each block. Additional time for team meetings and mentoring. Potentially Tues, Weds, Thurs.
Other Information:
- Out of pocket expenses are paid that includes travel and parking.
- This role is available to anyone over the age of 18yrs.
