Following the Budget delivered on 30th of October 2024, we wanted to highlight one of the main impacts for carers coming in 2025, specifically due to changes in carers Allowance (CA).
Befriending Week is here—a time to celebrate the transformative power of connection and companionship. This annual event, from November 1st to 7th, highlights the impact of friendship and the importance of social support, especially for those who may feel isolated. At Carers Support, we’re proud to join in this celebration by shining a light on our own Check-In and Chat service.
What does this mean for carers?
The earnings cap on CA has been increased, which means, carers who are working and receiving CA can earn up to £196 per week, around £10,192 per year. With these changes, a carer earning the National Living Wage will be able to work 16 hours a week. This adjustment will allow recipients of carers Allowance (70% of whom are women) to increase working hours, return to the workforce and increase their income.
