Carers Learning Set

Carer Learning Webinars take place every eight weeks and focus on specialist topics selected by our primary care partners.

Bookings are available to all West Sussex based primary care professionals.
Sessions are recorded and last up to 1 hour.

Previous learning event recordings can be accessed here and utilised for ongoing professional development.

    Rebecca Trussler, a Macmillan Primary Care Nurse Facilitator, and Hermione Davidson, a Carers Support West Sussex Co-ordinator, discuss the issues facing carers of people with cancer and how they can be supported in primary care and more widely.  (View or download Slideshow)

    Mike Howard,  Carers Support West Sussex Wellbeing Worker provides an overview of carers and how they can be identified in primary care and supported by Carers Support. This session includes a 20 minute video in which carers share their experiences of primary care. (View or download Slideshow)

    David Brooks, Young Carer Team Manager provides an overview of young carers, their rights, the support available to them and how to refer young carers into services.     A presentation from Liz Carter from the NHS Integrated Care Board who provides an overview of the ICB. Our second speaker on this video is Adele King, Team Leader for the Carers Health Team. Adele provides information about the service and support the Carers Health Team provides for carers in West Sussex and how to refer to them. Video lasts for 1hour 10mins.

    A presentation from Jo Best Hospital Team Coordinator for Carers Support West Sussex.  Jo provides an overview of the Hospital service, support provided to carers, discharge process and options. SAHAH (Support at home after hospital) Service. Also, where they are located through the county.  Our second guest speaker was Rachel Brett Carer’s Lead with Lime Tree Surgery, who had a discussion with Mike about having a protocol document in place. Which sets out, who carers are, the role of a carer’s lead and the processes for supporting and identifying carers, The importance of having this written down in the event of roles changing and a new carers lead being appointed and needing to learn the processes.     (View or download Slideshow)

    Carers Lead Learning Networking Meeting 6/11/24 – 6 weekly meeting with guest speakers. In this session we had Penni Norris from the Carers Coaching Team provide an informative presentation on the Carers Coaching Project and the benefits to carers.
